The Worldloppet continues!!
Worldloppet weekend number four takes us to the Transjurassienne in France. The Transju’ as it is known by locals is a weekend of events that takes skiers on a point-to-point tour through France’s Jura mountains.
As we prepare for the Transju’ this week, Lumi guests have been enjoying a tour through France’s Jura wines, cheeses, huts and trails. Yum!
Mont d’Or, the mountain of gold, is a fitting name for the soft cheese that piles on top of potatoes, especially during an Olympic week!
Our favorite restaurant in Prémanon, France’s World Cup venue, didn’t have a television so they set up a projector for our guests to watch Jessie and Rosie ski their way to 3rd & 4th in the skate sprint. Go USA!
That afternoon, while visiting Les Rousses’s famous cheese fortress where most of the world’s Comté cheese is aged, we learned that Quentin Fillon Maillet of France won gold in the 20km biathlon. Coincidentally, trip leader Annette is Fillon Maillet’s English teacher – and he is sponsored by Le Comté cheese!
The perfect crust cruising conditions would have been the proverbial icing on the cake, were it not for the blueberries on cream for dessert at the hut where we had lunch.
Needless to say, after all the carbo loading this week, everyone is prepared to traverse the Jura mountains this weekend in France’s Transju’ Worldloppet event.
