WINTER OLYMPICS GAMES

A once-in-a-lifetime trip to Italy for the Winter Olympic Games! Cheer for your favorite cross-country skiers during this special Lumi Experiences trip

We are counting down the days until the 2026 Milan - Cortina Winter Olympic Games in northern Italy! The Games will kick off with an Opening Ceremony in Milan on Friday, February 6 and conclude with Closing Ceremonies in Verona on Sunday, February 22. For two weeks in between, Olympic events will take place in four key areas of northern Italy, including the cross-country ski events in Val di Fiemme — a popular Lumi destination for the past 8 years!

Would you like to travel to Val di Fiemme, Italy to cheer on your favorite cross-country skiers at the Olympic Games? See the best athletes from around the world compete at Lago di Tesero ski stadium in Val di Fiemme—also home to the Marcialonga ski marathon and Tour de Ski. Away from the races, ski part of the Marcialonga course and discover one of the world's most scenic trail networks: the Passo Lavazé plateau, surrounded by Dolomite peaks, top-notch grooming and trailside cuisine. When you are not out skiing, savor meals in your hotel known for its dining and wellness area and even learn to make their family's heirloom apple strudel.

Lumi is offering three different Olympic Games trips due to their popularity. All trips will start and end in Verona, Italy. There will be different cross-country ski medal events to see each week:

 

Opening Week

  • $8700/person for 4-star lodging in Cavalese + daily skiing
    ($2000 non-refundable deposit due to reserve)

  • $7400/person for 4-star lodging within a 90 min coach bus ride of the races + daily skiing
    ($1000 non-refundable deposit due to reserve)

  • $5900/person for 3-star lodging within a 90 min coach bus ride from the races + daily skiing
    ($1000 non-refundable deposit due to reserve)

Note about the non-refundable deposits:

This deposit is used to secure limited lodging amid high demand from Norwegian Tour Operators in Cavalese. Due to high demand, the space on the trip will be allocated first to past Lumi guests (in order of how many trips they have taken) and their travel companion(s), then to additional travelers. By starting this process early, our aim is to be able to provide lodging by January 15, 2025 to everyone who is interested in joining one of the trips.

From Lumi’s Founder

Back in 2006, when I decided to pursue a ski racing career with the goal of competing in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, I knew that earning a spot on the US Olympic Team would not come overnight. I set the goal of competing on the Europa Cup circuit in 2007, the World Cup in 2008 and the World Championships in 2009. If I could achieve those goals, I was confident that I could make the team and ski in the 2010 Olympics. There were plenty of “thrill of victory and agony of defeat” moments in those four years, but in the end, I achieved each of those goals along the final steps of the journey to becoming an Olympian.

In launching Lumi’s first Olympic trips, I feel a similar arc to the journey. The first Lumi trip ran in 2018 to the Seefeld World Cup, where guests cheered on Jessie Diggins and Sophie Caldwell to back-to-back World Cup victories on one weekend, just weeks before Jessie and Kikkan Randall teamed up to win Gold at the 2018 Olympics in Korea. Including that first Lumi trip, we have run several World Cup trips annually, plus trips to World Championships in Seefeld 2019, Planica in 2023 and an upcoming trip to the 2025 Trondheim World Championships. Now we are ready for the Olympic Games in Trentino, Italy!

Lumi has been building relationships and running trips to Cavalese, the gateway village to the Olympic cross country skiing events, for the Marcialonga Ski Marathon since 2019. We have 10 trip leaders who have led trips to Cavalese over the past 5 years and who know the village even better than I do. This is an ideal venue for a Lumi Olympic Experience. Once we receive your survey, Lauren Honican, Lumi’s Head of Operations, will be in touch with you within about a week with the itinerary for the trip(s) you request, as well as an invoice for the deposit, if you requested one.

Due to high demand, the space on the trip will be allocated first to past Lumi guests and their travel companion in the order of how many trips they have taken, then to additional travelers.

For the Olympic Trips staying in Cavalese, the deposit must be received by December 15, 2024, paid via bank transfer through the invoice.

For the Olympic Trips staying within a 90 minute coach bus ride of the race venue, the deposit must be received by January 15, 2025, paid via bank transfer through the invoice.

The deposit is used to secure limited lodging amid high demand from Norwegian Tour Operators in Cavalese and beyond. By starting this process early, our aim is to be able to provide lodging by January 15, 2025 to everyone who is interested in joining one of the trips.

The deposit is refundable if your desired trip fills and we cannot secure lodging for another trip for you by March 31, 2025.
