Gliding into 2025
Guests on Lumi’s Tour de Ski and Seefeld & Seiser Alm trips have been enjoying an excellent start to the winter in the Alps.
An exciting Tour de Ski concluded with the grand finale Alpe de Cermis Hill Climb in Cavalese, Italy on Sunday. Lumi guests had a blast cheering trailside. The highlight was visiting the US Ski Team's wax truck and meeting Head Coach Matt Whitcomb, who shared his strategic advice about where along the course to cheer the loudest. It was thrilling to then return to the Finish Area and get to see four US skiers glide across the finish line in the top 20, including Julia Kern, Ben Ogden and Jessie Diggins who won 3rd overall in the Tour de Ski!
Beyond the Tour de Ski races, Lumi guests learned how to make Apple Strudel the Italian way from their hotel's chef / owner Monica, savored the cuisine, wine and hot cocoas in Cavalese, and skied the incredibly scenic Passo Lavazé trails surrounded by Dolomite peaks. Onto their next world-class cross-country ski destination in Seiser Alm, it’s been all skiing, eating, skiing and more eating on the plateau (Europe’s largest alpine plateau), with some Zirbenschnaps along the way. One highlight was learning about Italian cheesemaking from chef Franz over lunch at his cozy trailside restaurant.
Yesterday I had fun sharing a few of my favorite places in Innsbruck with everyone during their brief stopover in the Capital of the Alps, before they continue home.
Meanwhile Seefeld & Seiser Alm trip guests arrived in Seiser Alm yesterday and are experiencing a similar skiing, eating, skiing and more eating rhythm. Before traveling across the border into Italy, they were treated to ideal early season conditions in Seefeld, with over 200 km open. From sunshine for skiing the trails in the neighboring Leutasch valley on Monday, to the perfect snow for lift-serve Rodeling (Austrian sledding on traditional wooden Rodels) on Tuesday, and a special trailside lunch with freshly baked Austrian Apple Strudel Wednesday, the adventures continue.
Do you want to be trailside for the racing in Cavalese, Italy in 2026? Next winter Cavalese will host the final stages of the Tour de Ski races (like this year!) and the cross-country ski events for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympic Games (next year ONLY!). We recently announced Lumi trips Lumi’s 2026 Olympic trips to Cavalese. The Opening and Middle weeks are almost full already. Receive a $300 / person early booking discount when you sign up for any 2026 Lumi trip before March 31, although some trips like the Olympic Games trips will likely fill sooner.
Alternatively, if a cross-country ski vacation to Europe without any racing is more your style, the Seefeld & Seiser Alm Sight-Skiing trip is just that: beautiful skiing, delicious cuisine & cultural experiences with the support of Lumi’s local, expert trip leaders.
We look forward to hearing from you!
